over-winter strawberry planter

Hello, I live in central Indiana. Last year I put together a strawberry pot that looked very nice. During the winter I left it out in the sun and watered it about three times. This spring all of my strawberry plants had died. I am wondering how I should care for a strawberry pot during the winter. Should I put it inside of a shed or garage?  Should I stop watering it? Should I take my plants out of it and store them somehow? I also had Strawberry plants in the ground that did just fine over the winter.

Strawberry pots will freeze colder than plants in the ground, and are more subject to temperature fluctuations. Put the pot in the garage in November and keep moist, but not too wet. The reality is the 'strawberry pot' is only really good for one season and should be replanted every year. You will have less to worry about and you will get a better more consistant crop.
