Transplanting Everbearing Strawberries

I have a square bed of everbearing strawberries that I am wanting to transplant into greater defined row (basically in the same area of the garden).  I originally planted them 3 years ago in a large square area, and it is very difficult to harvest the berries in the center of the area.     I live in Central Kentucky.  When would be the best time to do this?  Also, do I need to plant them in raised beds?  They do not seem to be yielding the amount I would have hoped.  This is their 3rd year.  Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated!!  Thanks

We recommend re planting every year and taking the entire planting out after 2 years. You can transplant your existing plants in the spring or fall, but you risk the chance of planting less than healthy plants. We do recommend raised beds please see our planting guide at the following link.
