Q--
I recently planted strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries, and am wondering if I should pinch the blossoms this 'first' year.

I noted the reply below having to do with blueberries, but doubt the blueberries I just planted will blossom this year.

The strawberries are beginning to bloom, though - and I seem to remember hearing that it is no longer recommended or necessary to 'pinch' the first year with them.  Is that correct?

What about raspberries and blackberries?

A--
The blueberries will flower this year and I recommend removing them.

Don't worry about the brambles, they will be fine.

The strawberries should have the blossoms removed, unless they are Day-neutrals or everbearers.

Q--
I recently received a set of Mesabi strawberries for planting this year.  Since these are a mid-season variety and I was not sure which part of the planting guide to follow - do I follow the guide for June bearers or Day-neutral / everbearing for this variety? Or neither of these, in which case, do I pinch out all the flower buds the first year of growth, set the runners, etc?

A--
Mesabi should be treated just like any June bearing strawberry plant.
